The last weekend of March was an awesome time as our state association held its annual youth event, “Reunion.” The guest speaker was a good friend of mine Todd Pearage. Eric K. is our state Youth Director and I served as the emcee. We had between 200-250 people in attendance. I had a fun time hangin’ with Britt Nicole and her band: Josh, Albert, Ruben, and Eric R. as I was their host and driver. All of them have a heart for ministry! “Calling Out Closer”, a band from Reading, PA was there to open up the Saturday night concert. The messages brought were great and powerful. Many people were “rescued” by the grace of God. Looking forward to next year!!!

Had a great week!!!! Sunday hosted a “See You At The Pole” rally with a great band “Calling Out Closer.” They are from Reading, PA. You can find out more about them at www.callingoutcloser.com. It has been a great week at school and the church. Spoke at our young adult Bible study this week. I enjoy hangin’ out with them, it allows me to still feel young. My Tennessee Volunteers are stinkin’ it up, but I’m still a die-hard fan. My Colts aren’t doing that great either, and JJ and I lost our fantasy football game as well. That’s the way it goes. Be sure to check out the show this Sunday at 10:00 PM eastern. Listen on the radio locally or go to www.wgrc.com and listen via internet.

Here are a couple of pics from when in Mexico. We survived hurricane “Dolly” and it was a neat opportunity to be able to minister to people after such a traumatic time in their lives.

Jana and I had a fun time today as we interviewed Josh who is the High School Pastor at Saddleback. This guy is a nut and loves teens. A great combination!!!! He will be featured on our show in the next couple of months as part of a youth ministry series. He knows Jana fairly well and I was hoping to get some stories on her but she black-mailed him because she apparently has some good info on him. So, oh well. Watch the show link to see when the show will air. You can find out more about Josh at his personal site, www.morethandodgeball.com.
BRINGING CULTURES TOGETHER May 10, 2008

We held “Fiesta De Mayo” today in our town. It was a great blend of American and Hispanic cultures. Our youth ministry had a booth there as a fundraiser for our missions trip to Mexico. We had shirts for sale as well as a donation jar. It was a fun day full of ethnic food and music. At our booth today with me was Dottie, Meg, Correne, Clarissa, Karey, Jeremy, Saranda, Tab, Dan, and then Bill from the mission we are working with. We were able to raise funds to help offset the cost of the trip. God is good in how He provides in various ways.

I started my classes today for my M.Div. The semester doesn’t officially start till 5/12, but it is always good to get a head start. It has just been awesome how God has provided all the way around. So when you think of it, say a prayer for me as I take on this new challenge and that God would use it to strengthen the ministry I am currently in.

OUTSIDE FOR “LIVING ON THE EDGE” May 4, 2008

Living On THE EDGE is the name of our Sunday night youth meeting. We had a great time as the weather was wonderful and we had our Bible Study outside. I believe it is healthy for youth ministries to vary their environment. The teens really seemed to enjoy the change of pace. What are you doing to keep your youth ministry fresh?

FUNDRAISER – MONEY FOR DIRT May 3, 2008

Well, sort of. We held a car wash today to raise money for our youth missions trip. It was a good day. Some churches will not let you do this, but we are able to on a case-by-case basis. As long as the money is going towards an “extra-curricular” project then most of the time it will be ok. In other words we will not fundraise to pay bills. I believe this is a good in-the-middle policy. Let me know what your church policy is.
