DAVE STUFF

This page is dedicated to my personal reflections about me.  This is who I am.  Feel free to comment on anything related to me in the comment category “JUST DAVE”.

I was born in 1970, so do the math to figure out my age at the time you read this.  I spent time in the Navy which I absolutely loved.  I served on the USS Iowa and am honored to have done so.  47 of my shipmates were killed on April 19th, 1989 in a gun explosion.  I will always remember them.  The last three years of my Navy career I served as a Navy corpsman with the Marine Corps.  LOVED IT!  My first civilian career was as a registered nurse and is a field I still do some work in.  However, I had a career change and have received my degree in the ministry and now serve as a youth pastor and a radio show co-host.

Outside of my relationship with Jesus Christ, the most important relationships that I have are with my wife (married in 1990) and my daughter and son.

I grew up in Tennessee, home of the Big Orange Vols, and root for them all the time.  My family and I had many good times at the games.  My last six years of living in Tennessee I only missed one game and that was because of military duty.  I remember rushing the field one night after a big win against Florida the year we won the First BCS National Championship.  I was in the end-zone and my wife could not jump the fence.  The next thing I know she and others come flying thru a gate that had been opened.  We then proceeded to carry the goal post out into the streets.  I still have a bolt from the goal post.

I have been able to do many neat and exciting things throughout my life.  As I develop this site you will find out more about them.

I went to a Christian school and graduated in 1988.  I was in church all my life and lived in a Christian home.  Following high school I went into the military and attended basic training in Great Lakes, IL.  Boot Camp was not all that fun.  I wound up staying there in IL till sometime in October of ‘88 when it started getting cold.  I attended apprenticeship school following boot camp.  When school was over I had the opportunity to go home for a few weeks before heading out to meet my ship, the USS Iowa.  I flew to Norfolk, VA and then to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.  This was in December of ‘88.  It was snowy and below freezing when I left VA in my wool winter uniform and when I got to Cuba it was 115*.  I changed clothes as soon as I could.  I spen about 3 days in Cuba waiting for the ship and then if finally came.  We spent some time in the British and US Virgin Islands.  I was on the Iowa till July 1990.  I went to too many different places while in the Navy.  I spent 6 months over in Europe and the Middle East.  Some of the places I have been include:  Germany, England, Spain, Turkey, Israel, Egypt, Morocco, Palma Mallorca, Corsica, France, Italy, and more.

Our family lived in Tennessee till 2001 when we moved to Pennsylvania.  Since living in Pennsylvania, we have seen many more sights that what we may have seen had we not moved here.  We are very close to many places to visit.  We have also had the neat experience to learn some of the Amish and Mennonite traditions.  One is that they are awesome cooks and love to use peanut butter.  Life is good.

We also had the opportunity to go to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.  That was a lot of fun after watching it all those years.  We also attended the Laying In State of former President Ronald Reagan as well as had two private tours of the White House.

I did forget to mention that I have had the opportunity to meet President George H. W. Bush while he was still President.  This was back in Tennessee.  We had like a two minute conversation.  It was awesome!!!!!

More to come…
