Wasted Potential

Have you ever read the story of Solomon?  He had it all but blew it by hangin’ with the wrong crowd.

In I Kings 2:1-4  we see that his father David gave him godly advice.

In I Kings 3:5-28 we see that Solomon asked for and received wisdom straight from God.

However, in I Kings 11:1-6 we see that Solomon gave it all up to follow the wrong crowd.

What a shame.  He suffered for his sins.  So will we.

Hard to beleive 20 years ago today many lives would be changed as 47 would be lost.  I was onboard that fateful day when 47 wonderful shipmates lost their lives on the USS Iowa BB61.

May they rest in peace!

While hanging out on a military base recently, this thought came to my mind, “one cannot be in the service of two different countries; you must choose which country you will fight for.” The same is true when it comes to serving God (Matthew 6:24). We cannot say we serve Him and yet spend all our time doing other things. We need to daily check our plans and priorities to make sure they are God’s. Dave

“He is risen…He is risen indeed!”

The other day a lady approached me and quoted the first half of that comment, “He is risen” and then paused.  She was waiting to see if I knew what to say next.  Thankfully, I did.  I replied with, “He is risen indeed!”  Unfortunately, too many people don’t know what to exclaim when they hear this.  However, we should never be caught off guard when an opportunity arises to exclaim that “He is risen indeed”, for this is the foundation of our faith.

Happy Easter,

The last weekend of March was an awesome time as our state association held its annual youth event, “Reunion.”  The guest speaker was a good friend of mine Todd Pearage.  Eric K. is our state Youth Director and I served as the emcee.  We had between 200-250 people in attendance.  I had a fun time hangin’ with Britt Nicole and her band:  Josh, Albert, Ruben, and Eric R. as I was their host and driver.  All of them have a heart for ministry!  “Calling Out Closer”, a band from Reading, PA was there to open up the Saturday night concert.  The messages brought were great and powerful.  Many people were “rescued” by the grace of God.  Looking forward to next year!!!

On 3/22/09, I had the privilege to receive a license to preach from the American Baptist Association.  The Rev. Jamie Dries, my pastor, presented the license to me.  I had met previously with a representative group from our local association who recommended the license to our local church.  What an honor as I continue to pursue my ministry career.

Ordinary People; Extraordinary Rewards

All too often, we get down about ourselves.  We need to quit listening to the world and only look to what God has to say.  Reason being, He made us.  He took David who was a shepherd at home and a servant to the king and made him King (I Samuel).  David was an ordinary person whom God chose to reward in an extraordinary way.

Give yourself to God and let Him use you!!!!!!
